Republican Strategist Briefing
We're now joined by a GOP strategist, who's running down some of the key 2006 races in target states. This post will update during the conversation.
Most appealing opportunity for a Senate steal mentioned thus far: Nebraska, where Bush carried 65% of the vote.
On why the party will support RINO Lincoln Chaffee's primary bid: They won't (can't) if he becomes an independent.
On the House: The northeast, as always, will be a trouble spot. GOP will definitely maintain majority.
On the role of campaign volunteers: Volunteer corps will not be nationally driven, as they were in 2004. They will come from local pockets of committed individuals.
