Russian Offer In Iran, Dubya In Afghanistan
"Wheel of Fortune, Sally Ride, heavy metal suicide..."
No good reason to co-post on these two news stories, other than to invoke a Billy Joel moment.
Anyway, Tehran's latest dose of krazy is to claim to agree to the bulk of the demands being made by Russia as part of their [probably a little less worrisome] uranium enrichment outsourcing offer (including new inspections by the IAEA), while simultaneously refusing a moratorium on their own enrichment activities.
Psst, Iran: *That's the whole problem.*
Meanwhile, Bush took an unannounced layover in Afghanistan on his way to India, where he pressed the flesh with Hamid Karzai and restated our commitment to taking down bin Laden.
"I am confident he will be brought to justice," Bush said. "We've got U.S. forces on the hunt for not only bin Laden but anybody who plots and plans with bin Laden. There are Afghan forces on the hunt. ... We've got Pakistan forces on the hunt."
It was the first time Bush has been to Afghanistan and while he only spent 4 hours on terra firma, he managed to make an appearance at the opening of the new U.S. embassy in Kabul and addess U.S. troops at Bagram Air Base.
Elsewhere:
PoliPundit: "I love it when he does stuff like this." [me too]
Blogs for Bush: "I'll bet that this is the first time any American President has visited Afghanistan."
GOP Bloggers: "Unforunately ... the President had to ... affirm for the troops that the nation is behind them."
