Sopranos Open Thread

The best season of the best show on television continues tonight.

Does Paulie get whacked?  Will Vito make another pass at Finn?  Who pinned up the Ojibwe saying and how many times do we get to read it tonight?  Will Tony remember Kevin Finnerty?  Will Bobby pay a price for capping the rapper in the rump?  And can we look forward to another lesson from the Walnuts School of Finance?

Discuss.

I think much of this episode is going to be devoted to Tony's dilemma of whether or not to whack Paulie. In short order (maybe even between the episodes), Jason will tell his mom about his encounter with Paulie (or she'll piece it together, what with his shattered kneecaps). Jason's mom goes back to Tony for going back on his word not to hurt him. Tony is outraged at Paulie for making a liar out of him and for trying to skim off the sanitation business without kicking up to the boss. Tony's now faced with the decision either to whack a close friend and capo (for whom he may feel extra sympathy given his recent mommy issues and Tony's own maternal baggage) or to look increasingly weak in his already compromised post-coma reign. I predict Tony does wind up killing Paulie and that the manner is reminiscent of the M.O. of Christopher's "The Cleaver". Paulie's dismembered parts are ultimately picked up, as described in the screenplay, at a bunch of different spots along one of Barone sanitation's routes.

The title of the episode is "Mr. and Mrs. John Sacrimoni Request...". Might be more focused on the NY family tonight.

Slow episode two thirds of the way through. Never know though - sometimes David Chase pulls killer episodes out in the final minutes (like this season's premier). Two highly comical scenes: Tony and Johnny talking shop at the old folks' table; Tony and Chrissy debating how it works with dons and favors on the day of their daughters' weddings.

I'd say the sight of Vito in leather at the bar was a bit of a boost for the episode. Scary, but a boost.
