They Can Take Our Taxable Income, But They Can Never Take... Our Freedom!

Tax_freedom The anticipation has reached a fever pitch, as America waits with bated breath for the Tax Foundation to declare Tax Freedom Day for 2006.

Tax Freedom Day marks the day of the year when Americans have earned enough money to pay off that year's federal, state, and local income tax.  After Tax Freedom Day, you actually get to start working for yourself.  Last year, it fell on April 17, two days later than in 2004.

Those lucky Alaskans, with their rococo bridges and security cameras, are likely well passed their own Tax Freedom Day, as they tend to be the first state to cross the mark (last year on April 2).  Here in the NY/NJ/CT tri-state area, we're typically indentured for nearly another month.

Sign up here to be alerted the moment the date of this year's blessed deliverance is announced.
