The Finest Campaign Ad I've Seen All Season

Not surprisingly (but certainly iconoclastically for a Hollywood type), this bit of politicomedy gold comes from David Zucker.

Philip (isn't that your name?--or is it Flip, like Flip-flopper?) You have a very narrow worldview, my friend. Most important to the meaning of your life (judging by what you feature on your blog) are: money, the DOW, OPEC, Dems raises taxes (how much do you make again). That's it. All of those topics are really the same topic: money, money, and money. The end and the beginning. Little green piece of paper. Shallow and empty. You really should find something else to do with your time (how about making money by spending more time managing your investments, rather than whining about taxes). How about worrying about unprecedented debt and massive GOP (House, Senate, and White House) spending. That's you in a nutshell--money, money, money the alpha and the omega (won't keep you warm at night). Not much to you is there? Just a cold shell of a money-obsessed (new money, is it?) lonely, sad little man. I'm going to find out who is running against you and contribute some of my MONEY to them. You will lose. I will vote against you. Enjoy your money.

Good rant, Bob, despite your chrematophobia. But you say I should worry less about money and more about debt and government spending? Aren't those monetary topics? Yes, the subjects of my blog are money and politics (it's right up there in the banner). So those are the topics you can expect to read about here. I don't come to your blog and tell you to stop writing about pixies and unicorns and the joy of socialism. High taxes and wasteful spending are the biggest problems in government. That's why they're a key focus of my blog and of my campaign. If we squander taxpayer money on big, bloated government waste, we have less money to spend on security, education, or any other priority you'd care to name. You can ignore the effects these decisions have on your life, you can belittle those who study their impact and try to make a difference (by analyzing, opining, or running for office), but indifference and pooh-poohing won't diminish their impact. Glancing at the recent post list, I see discussion of political advertising, fraud, nuclear warfare, pop culture, natural disasters, overseas oil tyrants, and yes, money. If anything, I may be losing focus... As for the name of my opponent, I'll save you the sleuthing. Her name is Liz Krueger and her website is lizkrueger.com. But I warn you, she too has opinions about taxes, so she may also be too money-obsessed for your taste.

Whoa Bob, easy there bud. We can almost see the hinges coming undone. Nothing wrong with Flip edumacating us uninitiated folks for a while, although I realize you must be well-versed in economics given the depth of your analysis. Where'd you learn all that stuff, anyway? A little supply side economics won't kill you. It's not like you'll see positive economic news on those other sites you're reading. And you make "massive" spending sound like a Republican innovation. (If only!) And btw, if dumping more of your money into government - where it is wasted at a rate that would be criminal if the gov't were private enterprise - feel free to cut a check to your local constabulary. The rest of us are trying to pay our bills, saving for that reparations invoice and our kids' college education, etc. - you know, rich, Republican stuff. It strikes me that the sad, lonely little fella is you, Bob. Trolling conservative blogs. You silly little person. Back to your DU cage.
