John Kerry: Reformed Waffler

Kerry John Kerry's defining characteristic as a Presidential candidate may have been his pathological inability to make or stick with a principled decision, but in the wake of his latest military malignment, he seems to have found a measure of resolve.

As Captain Ed notes, Kerry has made the gutsy decision to postpone his decision about whether to run for President in 2008.

Senator John F. Kerry's election-eve "botched joke" about the war in Iraq -- and the fierce denunciations his comments drew from fellow Democrats -- has led him to reevaluate whether to mount a run for the presidency in 2008 and has led him to delay an announcement about his decision, according to Kerry associates.

Kerry purists need not despair.  Amid the newfound resolve, there's still room for nuance and revision.

The Massachusetts Democrat is now leaning toward waiting until late spring before declaring his intentions...

Ed's less convinced of the significance of the reformation.

Kerry only postpones the immaterial in this delay. The Democratic Party wouldn't nominate him again even if he was the last Democrat in the nation. The longer he pretends otherwise, the more pathetic he becomes.
