Who would be mean enough to throw a hand grenade at a room full of adorable puppies? War really does turn people into uncaring monsters!Posted by: Scott Thomas | Aug 15, 2007 8:52:20 PM
Damn, wish I'd thought of that one!Posted by: Scott Beauchamp | Aug 15, 2007 8:56:13 PM
I bet Glenn Reynolds did it.Posted by: SPQR | Aug 15, 2007 9:21:16 PM
OK, OK. I give! Please stop the war!!!! Oh God (oops, I mean Allah) not the puppies!!!!!! Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Posted by: Tim | Aug 15, 2007 9:38:11 PM
Dog days of summer...can't they relax without fear of a global warming bomb destroying their shelter? Hurry, lets have a world concert for the animals for allah.Posted by: John Ansell | Aug 15, 2007 11:28:29 PM
That photos a fake! See the pin in the grenade?! It couldn't have killed puppies. Only fools would believe a caption like that.Posted by: disunreconnected | Aug 15, 2007 11:46:17 PM
C'mon, you dolts, don't you know an authentic Pup-litzer when you see it ???Posted by: marybel | Aug 15, 2007 11:56:26 PM
Hmm something seems rather fishy about this picture. I mean wouldn't a grenade used to blow up an animal shelter have the pin removed. I am pretty sure it would be destroyed in the process too, but I am no munition expert. I think this warrants further investigation. I also noticed the clear lack of an opposable thumb as well, but I just chalked that up to a previous grenade injury.Posted by: brian_thorn | Aug 16, 2007 12:53:13 AM
SPQR, What's that stand for? Sam Pinkus, Queen of the Romans?Posted by: Matty_J | Aug 16, 2007 4:22:44 AM
That caption is all wrong. AFP would have it correctly as, "Pup holds up spent amunition fired at his destroyed home last night." Forget all the propaganda you have heard from present and ex-military, obviously on the Enron payroll, about how it looks unspent, is normally thrown, has to have the pin removed, yadda yadda yadda. All kidding aside, this is on a par with someone claiming to have snuck up into a country in a boat that is loud, fired at by Bhuddists, in celebration of CHRISTMAS no less, and heard President Nixon saying in December of 68 saying no one was in Cambodia. Only problem was, Nixon wasn't President yet. Oh, only other problem was, Bhuddists don't celebrate Christmas. Oh, only other problem was, you can't sneak in a swiftboat that Kerry's own journal, used in his authorized biography, said was as loud as a motorcycle going up hill. I call the fact checking on the propaganda stuff and Kerry, "half vast". But your pup with the grenade looks right. LOLPosted by: Kerry_K | Aug 16, 2007 4:53:20 AM
I thought AFP was trying to retrieve the situation - is that why you brought in a retriever pup? :-)Posted by: Peter | Aug 16, 2007 7:10:52 AM
Obviously if Reynolds was involved in this travesty there would be a blender in that picture.Posted by: Rob | Aug 16, 2007 7:53:11 AM
Thank the Lord that the puppy made it out of the demolished shelter without one scratch on him.Posted by: Francis X. Bushman | Aug 16, 2007 8:38:36 AM
Um... yea... so if this were a "live -action " shot- the puppy's pee-pee wouldn't be bleeped! He is holding the pee-stance, and they've bleeped out his pee-pee. Mistake #5 I see in this picture. LOL. Humorous!Posted by: girlfriendofasoldier | Aug 16, 2007 9:41:48 AM
Who would be mean enough to throw a grenade into a room of puppies? Kittens.....Conservative Kittens, that's who.Posted by: Dwayne "the canoe guy" | Aug 16, 2007 10:18:59 AM
Brilliant funny photo. Given AP's notorious captions and even more notorious staging of photos, this ridicule of the latest AP's Baghdad Grandma's Magic Bullets that fly unfired without the need for guns have not ballistic markings from alleged firings, penetrate homes and furniture and still come out looking better than new.Posted by: showbiz | Aug 16, 2007 11:50:16 AM
Ok Ok! Look--I worked in graphic arts for 40 years and I know a faked drop shadow (as on the dogs background) when I see one! That's faked folks, not even a good try! THEN the obvious lighter contrast on the grenade is so obvious and bad it makes Adobe want to redesign Photoshop™. If you are going to fake the digital world, at least learn the software! I do think the conservative kitten theory is valid, though!Posted by: David Valentine | Aug 16, 2007 12:14:36 PM
That puppy is LYING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Posted by: Mark B. | Aug 16, 2007 12:38:29 PM
Don't you just love those new re-usable grenades the evil Americans are using these days. The pin stays right in place, too, so all you have to do is repack the old one with new powder and presto! you can go puppy hunting again. Great savings for the taxpayer, too.Posted by: Ralphie | Aug 16, 2007 12:39:06 PM
Where's the reference to "coalition forces" being responsible? It wouldn't be news if terrorist were killing puppies. "One man's puppy killer is another man's help to control the pet population" - Bob WooferPosted by: MadMan | Aug 16, 2007 6:04:30 PM

Bush threw the grenade that killed all those puppies! Why oh why would he do such a mean dispicable thing? Hey, dem puppies was sittin' on a potential oil field. heeee-haaaaawPosted by: oldguy | Aug 17, 2007 11:40:07 PM
The caption missed the mark -- it didn't insist the hand grenade was thrown by Americans.Posted by: Tim (Random Observations) | Aug 18, 2007 2:43:05 PM
It must be a "light grenade" ala "Mom and Dad Save the Universe. That was the most diabolical weapon ever invented.Posted by: Carl | Aug 20, 2007 4:38:45 PM
You're all wrong....It's NOT a cute Doggie, and it was an Infidel CAT rescue centre.....the Extremist Doggie is going to finish off the job with another grenade, CANT YOU JUST SEE IT IN HIS EYES....oh I can't bear to watch....Posted by: Brit Pat | Sep 6, 2007 9:14:35 AM
