Kid Nation: Insurrection

I have a feeling tonight's the night.  I've been clamoring for an overthrow of the Bonanza City council ever since Uncle Ted intimated in the Kid Nation premiere that such a thing might be possible.  Last week, we came close, when cries of "Re-election!" erupted during the town meeting.

I don't know if that creepy, advice-from-the-grave "Pioneer Handbook" of theirs sketches out the procedures for a recall election, nor whether it would require scrapping the whole slate or if councilmembers can be ousted in isolation, but I think it's safe to suggest the figurehead most likely to receive a vote of no confidence is Taylor.  We know she looks to the President for leadership guidance and her popularity lately appears to be approaching current Presidential levels, thanks to an unfortunate combination of bossiness and laziness.  A bit of heartfelt contrition and a timely throwing of the youth card (at 10, Taylor's younger than most of the townsfolk) could still prevent her ouster, but she's got her work cut out for her.

If Taylor and/or the rest of the council is dethroned, the big question is who would fill the power vacuum.  Almost certainly, Michael will play a central role, as he's proven to be the town's best crisis manager, dispute diffuser, and charge taker.  But angry, brooding, thuggish Greg would presumably make a power grab of his own.  Depending on how big a coalition of frightened youngsters he might be able to cobble together, we could wind up with both Greg and his goon seated in the new regime, which could be the beginning of the end.  (Wasn't it reported that some of the kids wound up drinking bleach at some point?  Maybe this is what puts us on that trajectory.)

It saddens me to tell you I'm not going to be able to liveblog this week's episode, but I'll update tomorrow with a recap.
